Synopsis...
Samantha (Sam) Higginson Picardy is putting her past (North Under the Waves) behind her, or so she thinks. Now married to Sean, raising her twins, and enjoying her new life as a mum, landowner, sheep farmer, and bookstore owner, Sam uses her inherited English mansion house in Duddon as a safe haven. Ghosts of her past losses—parents, lover, and grandmother Maggie—are carefully packed away, occasionally rising out of the mist of her mind. Then it all takes a turn.
Sam’s last view as she left Dublin to start over was a woman dressed all in green, staring intently at her. Now, six years later, the Woman in Green has mysteriously reappeared, stopping in the lane and staring at her home. Sam’s intuition says this is not a coincidence.
Why is this woman hanging about? What is her motivation? Money? Revenge? Why her? Why now? Sam rounds up her extended family to help solve another mystery. The journey takes her to places she wouldn’t have imagined. In the end, on the move again, Sam hopes she is free to get on with her life. But is she?
